THE BEST SKI WAXES ALSO HAPPEN TO BE THE EASIEST TO USE

Everything You Need to Know about Tuning and Waxing Your Skis and Boards

Many skiers are convinced that proper base structure, edge sharpening and waxing is a complex and mysterious process.  Shop tuning requires expensive stone grinding machines and edge grinding machines.  Hot wax companies have convinced us that we need to spend hundreds of dollars on brass brushes, steel brushes, reel bars, etc for base structuring.  They tell us we also need any number of hot waxes for every gradient of temperature degrees and snow moisture content.  They produce tuning manuals that only confuse us more.

Many times we wax and prepare to ski some time before going to the mountain.  Who knows what the snow conditions will be when we actually get to the resort.  Why all the confusion and difficulty... could profit be the motive?  Hot waxing requires high temperature irons and the waxes can emit dangerous fumes.  These high temperatures can also damage the ski and board bases.  The high temps will cause the loss of base flexibility and greatly reduce the life of your equipment.  The hot wax companies tell us to first wax to clean the base (?), scrape off, then wax again with a hard wax and scrape again and hot wax again with the wax of the day...they can sell a lot of wax this way.

Maxiglide is the only wax manufacturer offering the highest quality all temperature paste wax called Maxx-Waxx.  The temperature range of this wax far exceeds the temperature and condition range you will find on any mountain.  When you ski you can go from sun to shade and conditions and temps can vary greatly.  With Maxiglide Maxx-Waxx not a problem.  With narrow range hot waxes, a potential problem.  All this at a very low cost when compared to the hundreds of dollars you could spend on hot wax equipment, the time and mess involved with hot waxing and potential damage to your skis.

Maxiglide Maxx-Waxx costs only $12.95 for a 4 oz. jar.  This is enough to wax your skis 20 times or more and a snowboard 10 times or more.  Maxx-Waxx takes only minutes to apply, leaves no mess to clean up and is environmentally safe.  MAXX-WAXX AND MAXX-WAXX PLUS PROVIDES HIGH SPEED AND EASY TURNING IN ALL TEMPERATURES AND SNOW CONDITIONS FROM THE COLDEST DRY CONDITIONS TO THE WARMEST, WETTEST SPRING SKIING CONDITIONS.  This convenient package will take little room in your luggage.

The easiest method to prepare your skis or board for an enjoyable day on the mountain...First have your skis structured at your favorite ski shop.  Structuring produces micro grooves in the ski base.  This allows water to flow through the base.  When our skis or boards travel over the snow, the snow melts and we are actually gliding on a thin film of water.  If your base was perfectly smooth, they would act like a suction cup and stick to the snow.  Maxiglide prevents wear on the structured base so it will last all season.

Second step is edge tuning.  Your ski and board bases should be beveled 1 degree to the base and 89 degrees to the edge.  We recommend the FK $25 Multi-Tuner.  Get the edges properly prepared as per the FK directions.  First time it might take up to an hour to get your edges right, but thereafter it only takes a couple of minutes to touch up.

Third step is to apply the Maxiglide Maxx-Waxx Fluoro Paste Wax.  Made from the finest natural plant and synthetic oils, solid waxes and the highest concentration of fluorocarbon powders that the formulation can absorb.  Apply to clean, dry bases with the provided applicator and buff in with a clean rag or sock.  Because the Maxiglide molecular structure is very small (sub-micron) the Maxx-Waxx is totally absorbed into the base, saturating it completely.  The Maxx-Waxx will displace other waxes and dirt actually making it self-cleaning.  Do not mix with hot waxes as they are not compatible.  To remove any residual hot wax, start using Maxiglide and after a couple of applications your skis will be free of old hot wax.  This total absorption allows the Maxx-Waxx to last 2 or 3 days of heavy skiing and riding in most conditions.

As with all base waxes only what is absorbed into the base does any good.  What is left on the surface should be removed.  If this excess is not totally buffed off, the excess may cause some drag until worn off.  A couple of runs or some extra buffing will remove the excess wax.  One light coating is all that is needed and top performance will not be achieved until perhaps your fourth or fifth separate application.  The snow is the best polisher!
