Started in 1975, Maxiglide began with a focus on preventing snow from sticking.  Our first defined problem happened to be snow sticking on to ski bases.  At this time, skis were a bit primitive in design and materials, but we were still able to find a high tech solution with a Teflon based coating that not only kept snow and ice from sticking, but enhanced glide by reducing friction.

This proved to be the first liquid coating for skis.  As the years past, we kept our focus on finding new materials and became the first to introduce fluorocarbon paste waxes for skis and snowboards.  This helped in increasing performance and ease of use for the recreational skiers and riders.  This innovation was followed by our X-Oils, super low co-efficient of friction lubricating oils that could be used in the extreme cold climes as well as hot temperatures.

In the late 90's, we became involved as consultants to several Olympic racing teams, most notably the Norwegian Olympic Committee.  This association afforded us the ability to test dozens of promising new materials that could be useful for use on, not only skis, but canoes, kayaks and sailboats.  Success in this area was proven as the Norwegians won many medals in both the winter and summer games of 2000, 2002 and 2004.

Some years ago, the problem of snow and ice sticking to various structures, vehicles, trucks, boats, etc. presented itself.  As logic would have it, why not add enough of some of these Teflon-like fluorocarbon materials in paint and have a non-stick coating.  Well, Teflon is very dense and heavier then the resins in paint, so the paint loses its adhesion.  Another approach was needed.

Find a durable binding material, compatible with our fluorocarbons and after much trial and error we had something.  This something we now call Pro-Tex.  Another first.  Pro-Tex is the first permanent non-stick coating that can be applied by the consumer out in the field.  Pro-Tex provides a sealed, non-stick surface that prevents ice, snow, dirt, grass, mud and water from sticking.

At Maxiglide, our philosophy has always been to produce products that are first convenient and easy to use and understand for the consumer.  We produce products that solve real life problems, products that have real value.  And we are still looking to add more chapters to that "Book on Non-Stick Technology."
